Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injuries
ACL injury is one of the most common sport knee injuries sustained while playing football, rugby, and cricket. ACL is the main stabilisation of rotation of movement and anterior translation of the knee joint with ACL injury. Patients complain of pain, swelling, and decreased range of movement of the knee. Patient’s desire is to return to pre-injury activity. Surgical management of ACL is a gold standard. Dr. Ashfaq performs ACL repair using stem cells in paediatric patients with ACL injuries and he also performs ACL reconstruction using various graft. He has done hundreds of revision ACL surgeries using allograft. For professional players, he has a different approach, using stem cell injection for early recovery and rehabilitation and for patient to be able to return to sports.
